My article on this topic, which will soon be published and is a continuation of my post-doctoral research at Harvard, investigates the adjudication of transsexuals, clones and gametes in Islamic law, and surveys a range of opinions from Iran, Iraq and Lebanon on how these “othered,” “altered” and non-normative bodies should be conceived, assembled, reproduced, and judged in legal terms, fatwa documents, and physical reality.
