Gender & Education in Oman…

While on the road last week doing research in Ethiopia, I read that there are more Omani females than males enrolled in universities this year in the Sultanate of Oman. Obviously this statistic flies in the face of stereotypes about gender and higher education in the region. For me, it is a true joy and honor to be able to teach university students in Oman — there’s nowhere else I would currently rather teach than the Persian Gulf.
