The Fish Stare Down…

Today, I was swimming in the sea–admiring the fish–just like I do every day. But while I was treading water, this one tiny little fish came to the surface–and just stared at me. It didn’t move at all–it just stared.

Why, hello there, little fish.

Was it dead? When it finally flapped its little fins, or whatever they are, I knew it was alive. But it kept on staring.

Every day, I spend an hour diving under the waves to admire the periwinkle, pink, peach and turquoise fish swimming through the holes of the rocks–but today, the fish did all the staring. With its gaze fixed on me, I was tempted to turn away. But when the tiny fish got bored of staring, it quickly turned its tail and swam away. So did I, careful not to follow it–careful to swim my own way.
